How many units do I have to commit to?
In most available markets Jamba is seeking to partner with franchisees who want to grow to own and operate several units. The minimum commitment we require is 3-5 units within 5 years. Is Jamba Juice offering international franchise opportunities?
Yes. In international markets we seek franchise relationships with well-established foodservice or specialty retail companies with existing operations, management and resources to develop the Jamba brand in the entire country. How long has Jamba Juice been in business?
Jamba Juice was established in 1990 in San Luis Obispo, California. The company has since become the category leader with over 700 company-owned and franchised units across the country.
What are the financial requirements for becoming a Jamba Juice franchisee?
Becoming a Jamba Juice franchisee requires a minimum liquid capital of $350,000 in the form of cash, or securities that can be quickly converted to cash. In addition, a minimum net worth of $1,000,000 is required in the form of assets that can be used as collateral for a loan. Jamba Juice requires this level of capital in order to help ensure the first unit is appropriately capitalized and that access to capital is available for building additional units.
What is the cost of opening a Jamba Juice unit?
The Initial Investment for building a traditional Jamba Juice unit in the U.S. is estimated between $353,100 to $639,800. These totals include an Initial Franchise Fee of $25,000 for a traditional store. Jamba also offers smaller formats and kiosks for non-traditional venues which can be developed at substantially lower costs.
What is Jamba's franchise fee?
The franchise fee is $25,000 per unit, for a traditional unit. In a multi-unit development agreement we collect one-half of the franchise fee for all the units upon signing of the agreement, and the other half for each unit before opening.
Can Jamba Juice help with financing?
Jamba Juice can assist you in financing by introducing you to lenders who are familiar with our business and who specialize in franchise financing. Additionally, Jamba is listed on the Small Business Administration's franchise registry.
What are Jamba Juice royalties and marketing fees?
In the U.S. royalties are 6% of net sales for 3 or less traditional units, and 5.5% for 4 or more traditional units. Marketing fees can be up to 4% of net sales and are currently (as of the date of our current FDD) 2%. Please see FDD for more detail on royalties and marketing fees for non-traditional units.
How do I find a real estate site?
Finding the right location for your Jamba Juice unit is one of the key factors that drive the success of your business. We can help you by identifying and approving trade areas that we believe fit our requirements. For more detail on our site criteria click on Real Estate Site Criteria. Once you have identified the right trade area, local commercial real estate brokers can then help you find an available site. While you are ultimately responsible for finding the appropriate location for your Jamba unit, we will review and approve every site.
What is the size of a Jamba Juice unit?
The ideal space for a traditional, in-line Jamba unit is 1,200 to 1,400 square feet. In addition, a minimum space width of 20 feet is necessary for an optimal unit layout. We also offer a kiosk concept for non-traditional venues that requires as little as 180 to 230 square feet (plus remote storage space).
Will I have a protected territory for my franchise?
In most cases, while we negotiate your multi-unit development agreement, we will create an exclusive territory for you that provides opportunities for growth.
What does my training include?
Jamba requires that the franchisee, an operating partner, or a general manager designated by the franchisee attend Jamba's 6 week, full time, in-unit training program. This training program will teach you the day-to-day operation of your Jamba Juice unit. In addition, our orientation program will explain in detail how you can leverage Jamba's support center in areas such as marketing, real estate and development, IT and supply chain.
Where do I receive my training?
Jamba Juice operates certified training units across the country. We will do our best to schedule your training in an area that is convenient for you.
What support will I receive after initial training is completed?
One of the advantages of franchising with us is access to our support network. This support comes in several ways:
We have established relationships with vendors who will guide you to the right products, equipment and small wares. We have also negotiated volume discounts on your behalf and we pass all of those savings on to you.
After signing of your franchise agreement, you will be in touch with your Region Franchise Manager who is responsible for directly supporting you. You can count on your RFM for operational input and best practices from hundreds of other Jamba Juice units. In addition, your RFM will visit you regularly to ensure we are meeting your needs and that you are maximizing the potential of your business.
On an ongoing basis, the Jamba Juice Support Center will continue to drive the brand and support your efforts in areas of marketing, real estate and development, supply chain, and IT. Should you have questions or need help with issues in these areas, your RFM will put you in touch with the appropriate person at the Jamba Juice support center.
